Ending hotel use for homeless families 🏡
This week, Haringey reached a major milestone:we’ve now ended the use of hotels as temporary accommodation for homeless families. That matters, because behind every policy, there are real lives. At Full Council recently, Adam spoke about a young lad in Hornsey - let’s call him Ali. Seventeen years old, sharing a one-bedroom flat with his parents and three siblings. Sleeping in the lounge. No space to study. No room of his own. This is what the housing crisis looks like in rea

🚮 Behind the Scenes at Haringey’s Waste Depot
This week I visited Haringey and Veolia's waste depot in the far corner of the borough with fellow Councillors and our Cabinet member for Waste, Cllr Seema Chandwani to see how our waste and recycling services operate day to day. When you ask residents what they most expect from the Council, the answer is often simple: collect the bins on time — and I’m proud that Haringey has a strong record on this. 💪🏼 It was brilliant to meet the team at the depot and see how the magic

🚶‍♀️💜 Walk for Women in Haringey
This week I was proud to join the Haringey Walk for Women — a powerful and inspiring event bringing our community together to stand against violence against women and girls (VAWG) . It was moving to walk alongside residents, campaigners, local organisations and colleagues, all united in calling for safety, respect and equality for every woman and girl in our borough 💜. These events matter. They show that as a community we are not willing to stay silent, look away or accept

🚗🔄 Estate Parking Consultation – Changes Coming to Hornsey
The Council is updating the way estate parking is managed across Haringey. The current system is more than 20 years old and no longer works effectively — especially as national legislation has changed and privately-managed enforcement is no longer fit for purpose. A new, modernised scheme is now being proposed, and Hornsey estates will be part of Phase 4 of the consultation , running from 10 November to 15 December 2025 . This is your chance to help shape how parking works

🏛️ Strengthening Scrutiny: Learning, Listening and Doing the Job Well
Earlier this year, I was elected as Chair of Haringey’s Housing, Planning and Development Scrutiny Panel , as well as joining the borough’s Overview and Scrutiny Committee . It’s a big responsibility, and I’m determined to do the job properly. Scrutiny isn’t always the most visible part of what councillors do, but it’s where we can make a real difference — by asking tough but fair questions, challenging the evidence, and pushing for better outcomes for residents across Hornse
