This week I visited Haringey and Veolia's waste depot in the far corner of the borough with fellow Councillors and our Cabinet member for Waste, Cllr Seema Chandwani to see how our waste and recycling services operate day to day.
When you ask residents what they most expect from the Council, the answer is often simple: collect the bins on time — and I’m proud that Haringey has a strong record on this. 💪🏼
It was brilliant to meet the team at the depot and see how the magic happens ✨.

We learned about:
🦺 how crews are scheduled and supported
🧰 the maintenance that keeps the fleet running reliably
❄️ winter gritting operations
🖥️ new technology helping to improve efficiency and reporting
🔧 the older kit that still works hard behind the scenes
💬 our customer services team and how they manage resident enquiries
🧑⚕️ on-site support for staff — from physio to mental health
I left with even more appreciation for the crews who work incredibly hard, in all weather, to keep our streets clean and our collections running smoothly.

A huge thank you to everyone at the depot for the warm welcome and for everything they do for residents across Haringey.
