This is a really special moment for our borough.
For the first time ever, Haringey’s Children’s Services have been rated Outstanding by Ofsted — the highest possible rating.
And it’s hard to overstate just how significant that is.
This is about children in our borough being safer, better supported, and given the best possible start in life. It’s about families getting the help they need, when they need it. And it’s about a system that is working — and working well.
Ofsted highlighted the strength of leadership, the quality of social work, and the way children’s voices are genuinely shaping decisions. That doesn’t happen by chance. It comes from years of focus, investment, and a real commitment to putting children first.
Under this Labour administration, children and young people have been a clear priority — and this rating reflects that. It also speaks to the strong leadership of Councillor Zena Brabazon and Director Ann Graham, who have driven this transformation with leadership, determination and care.

But what really matters is what sits behind the rating.
It’s the child who is listened to and supported at the right time.
The family who gets help before things escalate.
The young person leaving care with confidence about their future.
That’s what “Outstanding” means in real terms.
We’re incredibly proud of the social workers, staff and partners who’ve made this happen. This is their achievement and it reflects the care, professionalism and commitment they bring to their work every day.
As councillors, we’re proud to have supported and championed this work — and we’ll keep doing so. Because when it comes to children, there is no higher priority.
We’ll keep listening, keep improving, and keep making sure every child in Haringey has the support and opportunities they deserve.
This is something the whole borough can be proud of.
