Taking control of Lime bikes in Hornsey 🚲💪🌹

We know Lime Bikes have been a big issue locally.

For a long time, residents told us the same things about Lime bikes — dumped on pavements, blocking access, that constant ticking noise from tampered bikes, and a sense that things were getting out of control. ⚠️

We heard you. And we acted!

Over the past year, we’ve:

👉 Installed new designated parking bays across Hornsey 🚲📍

👉 Pushed for stronger enforcement against badly parked bikes ⚖️

👉 Worked with the council to get a grip on how these schemes operate

And residents have told us — things are improving. 🙌

Now, we’re going further.

Under a new, tougher contract, Haringey is taking real control of dockless e-bikes — with stricter rules on parking, faster removal of problem bikes, and clearer accountability for operators.

Gone are the days of bikes being left anywhere with no consequences. ❌

Gone too — that constant ticking noise from hacked bikes that so many residents raised with us. 🔇

Making bikes work for residents 🚲💚

E-bikes can be a really positive part of our transport network.

They help people get around more easily, reduce car journeys, and support a greener borough.

We've insisted on:

👉 clear parking rules

👉 proper enforcement

👉 and a system that respects our streets and pavements

We've also insisted on school education about bike safety, repairs apprenticeships and local jobs as part of the renewed contract.

We’ll keep monitoring how this works in practice and keep pushing for improvements where needed. Because whether it’s safer streets, cleaner pavements, or better public spaces — we’re here to make sure things work for our community.

Thanks to everyone who raised this with us and stuck with it — it’s made a real difference.
