Every council home in Haringey set for a major upgrade 🏡🔥🌹

This is a huge moment for our borough.

Haringey is now a major step closer to delivering a £570 million programme to upgrade every single council home — improving around 20,000 homes across the borough.

Every home. Every resident. No one left behind. 🙌

For too long, too many residents have had to put up with homes that simply weren’t good enough — damp, cold properties, outdated kitchens and bathrooms, and communal areas that haven’t been properly maintained.

We’ve heard those concerns on the doorstep, in casework, and in conversations across the ward. And we’ve pushed for action.

Now, we’re getting on with the job.

With contractors now appointed, this programme is moving from plans into delivery — with thousands of homes set to be improved over the coming years, including upgrades to safety, insulation, windows, roofs, kitchens and bathrooms.

This is real, borough-wide change — not small fixes, but a transformation of council housing at scale.

This didn’t happen by accident.

It’s the result of residents speaking up — and us taking those concerns seriously and pushing for change.

It’s also the result of clear political choices: choosing to invest in our homes, choosing to raise standards, and choosing to make sure council housing in Haringey is something people can be proud of.

As your local Labour councillors, we’ve been clear: everyone deserves a decent home. And this is what delivery looks like.

Better homes mean lower energy bills, safer living conditions, greener neighbourhoods and a better quality of life for thousands of residents.

We’re really proud to see this moving forward.

But more than anything, we know this matters because of what it means for people — warmer homes, less stress, and a better day-to-day quality of life.
