It’s been another full-on week across the ward, from casework and committees to door knocking and community meetings.
Take a look at my quickfire 1-minute video with some of the highlights 🎥👇
But here’s a snapshot of what I’ve been up to:
Out in the community 🏡
A big part of the week has been spent speaking directly with residents, whether on the doorstep, in meetings or out and about across the ward.
👉 Met with a constituent to talk about community cohesion and how we strengthen relationships locally
👉 Knocking on doors and chatting with residents about local issues 💬
👉 Spent time with residents on Oak and Ashford hearing their concerns
👉 Walked the Lightfoot and Campsbourne estates to spot and report issues 🚶♂️
👉 Caught up with the Campsbourne Community Collective — great to hear about their ongoing work locally
Casework & getting things sorted 🧾
Supporting residents with individual issues is always a priority.
👉 Held our regular councillor surgery
👉 Helped a resident 1:1 with a Council Tax issue
👉 1:1 meeting with officers to push forward a casework issue
Holding the council to account ⚖️
👉 Spent 3 hours at Overview & Scrutiny Committee going through the council’s budget line by line
This is a key part of the Councillor job, making sure decisions are properly challenged and residents’ money is being spent wisely (and even questioning Cllr Carlin!)
Working with partners 🤝
👉 Met with Metropolitan Housing about ongoing issues at Danube Apartments including flooding, repairs, bins, security and residents’ concerns. Lots of follow up actions!
👉 Met with Mums for Lungs to discuss air quality and the need for cleaner air 🌿
Planning for the future 📍
👉 Workshop with local Labour members on our manifesto — shaping priorities for the years ahead
👉 Meeting on placemaking plans for Hornsey Village and how we improve the area
Always plenty going on and always more to do.
If there’s something you want to raise, or if I can help, just get in touch. 💬

Adam
Hornsey Councillor
