We know that many Hornsey residents love to cycle — it’s great for our health, helps tackle congestion, and cuts air pollution. But for people living in flats or homes without secure outdoor space, finding somewhere safe to store a bike can be a real challenge.
That’s why, as part of our 2025/26 programme, Haringey Council is proposing to install 53 new Bikehangars (secure cycle storage facilities) across Haringey — including three right here in Hornsey.
Where in Hornsey?
The proposed locations for new Bikehangars in our ward are:
Nightingale Lane, outside No. 89 (N8 7QY)
Tottenham Lane, outside No. 54 (N8 7EE)
Hawthorn Road, outside No. 18 (N8 7NA)
These sites have been chosen based on requests from local residents.

How do Bikehangars work?
Bikehangars are secure, on-street storage units designed to hold up to six bikes each. Residents can rent a space inside, helping to keep bikes safe from theft and out of the way of pavements and communal areas.
Have your say!
Before these Bikehangars can be installed, we are consulting with residents and businesses. This gives residents and local businesses a chance to share their views, make comments, or raise objections.
🗓️ Consultation runs from 25 June to 16 July 2025.
You can view the proposals and have your say on the Council’s consultation portal: Haringey consultation portal.
When responding, please select '2024-T38 Bikehangar 2024/25 Batch 4' from the active consultation list and include the specific location in your comments.
Alternatively, you can email traffic.orders@haringey.gov.uk, making sure to mention '2024-T38 Bikehangar 2024/25 Batch 4' and the location in the subject line.
What happens next?
Once the consultation closes, the Council will carefully consider all feedback before making a final decision.
If the Bikehangars go ahead, residents can then apply for a space through Cyclehoop, the company that supplies and manages these units. Please note that applications can only be made after installation.
Thank you for helping make Hornsey greener and more cycle-friendly
We’re committed to making it easier for everyone in Hornsey to choose cycling as a safe, healthy, and convenient way to get around. Your feedback is vital to help shape these plans — so please do take a few minutes to look at the proposals and let us know what you think!
